Who are we? EarthWorks is the manufacturer of a complete, professional line of Natural Organic fertilizers, soil conditioners, bio-stimulants and a supplier of rock minerals. Our products are designed to meet the stringent requirements of the golf course and sports turf industries. We are dedicated to formulating the most agronomically complete products available.
Soil First Consulting, a soil and water testing service of EarthWorks, is dedicated to the concepts of Biological Soil Management. Our products and testing are consistent with the principles of Dr. William Albrecht, the former head of Agronomy at the University of Missouri and the founder of Brookside Labs. With this as the backbone behind our work and product development we have been able to provide golf course superintendents and lawn care professionals sustainable results. The EarthWorks products are currently distributed and utilized throughout the United States and have been used in Bermuda, Canade and Germany as well.
Where did we come from? EarthWorks Natural Organic Products was officially born in 1988, however the company represents over 20 years of experience in working with biological soil management programs. Currently EarthWorks is marketing their programs and product lines across the country and in several overseas locations. In 1992 Soil First Consulting was established and now processes and interprets over 5,000 soil tests annually.
President and founder Joel Simmons holds a B.S. in Horticulture and a B.S. in Agricultural Education, as well as a M.S. in Agricultural Education/Horticulture, all from Penn State University. He is a former Penn State county extension agent whose special areas of interest included turf and ornamentals. Since 1996 he has taught soil fertility for the Turf Management Program of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ.
Where are we going? The focus of EarthWorks products will remain to "balance chemistry and feed soil". We will continue to formulate and add new products to our line that meet this criterion. EarthWorks will continue to follow and spread the concepts of biological soil management and the "soil first" approach of balancing the complex relationships amongst the chemical, biological and physical aspects of soil care.
